Chelsea are desperate to add attacking quality to their team, and one of the more exciting targets that appears to be on their radar is Riyad Mahrez of Leicester.
After his scintillating performances in the title winning season the Algerian went off the boil a little last season, but his return to form this term has meant that all the top clubs are interested in him again.
Barcelona are also in that group of teams, according to Calcio Mercato, and Blues can hurt the Spanish club’s transfer plans by stealing a target from under their noses.
Even better, the Leicester man hasn’t played in the Champions League this season, so if he makes the switch soon he would be able to face the Blaugrana in their tie against Chelsea in the last 16 of the competition.
You can see it now – a textbook cut in and shot from the tricky winger knocking Barcelona out of Europe… if they spend some of that Roman Abramovich money, perhaps even Mahrez eliminating Barcelona?
