Chelsea news: Bale transfer claim, £44m double deal this week, huge Mahrez update

Gareth Bale could replace Eden Hazard at Chelsea.

The Belgium international was tipped to join Real Madrid in the summer but the winger broke his ankle, ending any chances of a move.

However, according to Spanish transfer outlet Don Balon, Real are still desperate to land Hazard this summer.

And they claim Real president Florentino Perez is even willing to give up Bale in the process.

Don Balon claim Bale wants to quit the Bernabeu and return to the Premier League.

Chelsea hope to complete a £44m double swoop for Roma pair Edin Dzeko and Emerson Palmieri by the end of the week, according to the Daily Mail.

Dzeko has emerged as a top target for Chelsea as Blues boss Antonio Conte looks to add competition for striker Alvaro Morata.

Roma are reportedly willing to listen to bids the 31-year-old as they feel this window offers the best opportunity to sell one of their top earners.

Another target for the Blues is Roma’s Palmieri, who is being lined up to provide cover for left wing-back Marcos Alonso.

The Mail add that the 23-year-old is expected to travel to London this week to complete his move to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have seen their odds slashed by the bookies to sign Leicester star Riyad Mahrez.

Blues boss Antonio Conte is desperate to rejuvenate his front line this season after seeing the goals dry up in recent weeks.

The Premier League champions found the back of the net just once in their last four outings against Norwich (twice), Arsenal and Leicester.

And according to bookmakers Betfair, Chelsea could now turn their attention to Leicester’s in-form forward Mahrez.

The Blues have seen their odds slashed from a huge 50/1 to just 8/1 to sign the Algeria international before the January window shuts.
