Club Brugge defender Stefano Denswil admits ‘it would be nice’ if he could one day play for his dream club Chelsea.
Denswil, 24, completed a transfer from Ajax to Club Brugge back in 2015 and his strong performances in Belgium saw him linked with a big-money move to the Premier League ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.
Brighton and Hove Albion were on the cusp of a deal for Denswil but the move collapsed as Brugge were unwilling to sell the Netherlands Under-21 international.
While the centre-back is disappointed not to be playing his football in England this season, he harbours dreams of playing for Chelsea in the future.
‘Everyone has a dream club and I also have one: Chelsea,’ Denswil told Fox Sports.
‘It would be nice if I could ever play there. ‘As a defender you really learn to defend there.’
Chelsea completed a £15million deal for Ross Barkley at the beginning of January and Antonio Conte is desperate for further reinforcements.
‘I do not aim high with my requests, especially as in my history I’ve rarely been given the players I asked for,’ Conte recently admitted.
‘I always ended up at clubs who were running an austerity programme.
‘I just try to do my work. If someone arrives, good; if they don’t, then that’s fine too. I have to continue my work, either way.’
