CHELSEA will reportedly launch one final attempt to land Edin Dzeko today.
The Premier League champions are eager to bring in a new striker before Wednesday’s transfer deadline.
Roma’s Dzeko remains their top target but a deal for the ex-Manchester City ace is proving tricky due to his hefty wage demands.
Italian outlet Transfermarketweb report that Chelsea are planning to make a last move for him today as they strive to reach a breakthrough.
It is said Dzeko was due to undergo a medical with the Blues last Thursday.
But that didnt happen because talks between Chelsea and Roma hit the buffers.
The 31-year-old Bosnian will end up staying put in Rome this month if today’s discussions are not successful.
Chelsea chief Antonio Conte refused to comment on the speculation surrounding Dzeko following yesterday’s 3-0 FA Cup win over Newcastle.
When asked for about the potential deal, Conte said: “No news on Dzeko. I don’t like to talk about the transfer market.”
And when pressed further, Conte added: “I don’t need anything. I’m a coach and I continue to work with the players I have. They are great players.”
Chelsea are running out of time if they are to bolster their ranks further before Wednesday’s deadline.
The Blues have only signed one new player this month, completing a £15m raid on Everton for Ross Barkley.
Conte and co, who take on Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, are still looking to land Dzeko’s Roma team-mate Emerson Palmieri.
