Antonio Conte: “I said I’d stop. I sleep very well.”

Antonio Conte has responded to Jose Mourinho’s latest jibe by insisting he isn’t bothered by the Manchester United boss and sleeps “very well”.

Mourinho claimed he felt ‘contempt’ for Chelsea chief Conte, who called the Portuguese coach “a little man and a ‘fake’ in their ugly fued.

But after Chelsea lost more ground in the title race with a 0-0 draw with Leicester on Saturday to stay in third place behind United, Conte hit back.

Asked about Mourinho’s comments Conte said: “I think… I said I’d stop. It’s the same for me (contempt).

“I don’t know if he said this for me. But I’m not worried. I’m not worried. I sleep very well.”

With FA bosses closely watching developments along with League Managers Association Chief Executive Richard Bevan, both men are believed to have been advised by their clubs to end the war of words.

Chelsea have now moved level on points with Mourinho’s men following the draw with Leicester, but United have a game in hand.

The tension between the two managers has been building and there could be fireworks when both sides face off in the Premier League meeting next month.
