Chelsea News: Favourites to land Bonucci, Courtois’ Real deal claim, Conte on Everton draw

Chelsea are leading their Premier League rivals in the race to sign AC Milan defender Leonardo Bonucci, according to the bookies.

BetStars’ Ian Marmion said: “Bonucci is a player that is expected to be in high-demand in the January transfer window, with a host of European clubs eyeing up a move for the Italian.

“Chelsea are the current frontrunners at 2/1 to clinch the defender’s signature, while league leaders Manchester City follow closely behind at 3/1.

“Serie A champions Juventus are priced at 5/1 to re-sign their former player only six months after selling him to their Italian rivals, while Manchester United and Real Madrid are priced at 6/1 and 8/1 respectively to add the Milan skipper to their ranks in January.”

Chelsea are willing to agree a deal with Real Madrid for Thibaut Courtois now ahead of the goalkeeper moving to Spain next summer.

Spanish football expert Guillem Balague told Sky Sports: “Real Madrid quite clearly want two goalkeepers for next season.

“They want [Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper] Kepa [Arrizabalaga] for now, if possible, and it will be €20m and they want Courtois for next season.

“Courtois knows that, I think he will like to go back. I’ve got an impression that I think Chelsea will make a deal now, for next season.”

Antonio Conte insists Chelsea deserved to beat Everton in today’s goalless draw at Goodison Park.

“For sure we must be disappointed because we deserve to get three points,” said Conte.

“Everton are the best team in this league outside the top six. We played this way with great personality, intensity and concentration.

“If you want to win this game, you must score. You need to be more clinical.”
