2 players who could follow Ross Barkley to Chelsea in January

Blues fans here are still in shock, after their weekend defeat at the hands of the struggling West Ham United.

Antonio Conte has always worn his heart on his sleeve since taking over at Chelsea, earning an immediate place in the heart of fans after gifting them a Premier League title during his first year in charge at the club.

Although this season hasn’t gone as smoothly as the Blues would have liked, fans here have kept their faith in the side as they sit comfortably inside the Champions League places.

However, after failing to hit the heights of last season, Conte is already looking to strengthen in the January transfer window, as the Daily Mail suggests that Chelsea are readying another bid for Everton’s Ross Barkley, after he snubbed them on deadline day back in the summer.

The 24-year-old has spent a long period out of the game due to a hamstring injury, but now with him looking to be fit for the start of January, Chelsea will look to add him to their midfield in order to take the load off the heavily-reliant Cesc Fabregas.

Nevertheless, with Conte’s side needing to improve in the second-half of the season, here’s a look at TWO stars that could follow Barkley to Stamford Bridge in January.

Gianluigi has become one of the most promising young goalkeepers in the game, after being tipped to become Italy’s future number 1, which is a pretty bold statement after the heroics of Gianluigi Buffon over the years.

After appearing 24 times for the Rossoneri this season, it’s clear to see that he’s become an important part of the AC Milan team.

However, with his agent looking to have his new contract ‘annulled’ it looks as if he may be able to leave on a free next summer, which could force AC Milan to try to offload him for cash in the January transfer window. With Thibaut Courtois looking like he’s edging towards a possible La Liga return, the youngster looks like a suitable replacement.

Indeed, fans are excited about the prospect of signing the 18-year-old, who has the potential to become the world’s best.

The left-back has had his best season in an Augsburg shirt, as he’s introduced an attacking element to his game.

Having featured in 16 games this season he’s managed to score 1 goal and provide an impressive 8 assists, as his creativity has become key to the team in attacking situations.

Indeed, after such a promising start to the season, it was inevitable that the vultures of world football were going to come calling, with Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United all looking at the 24-year-old.

Of course, with Marcos Alonso having no real competition at left-back, adding competitiveness in the form of Philipp Max will force Alonso to up his game.
