Reports: Manchester United interested in signing unhappy David Luiz

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is targeting Chelsea central-defender, David Luiz.

The Brazilian is extremely unhappy at Stamford Bridge after falling out with Antonio Conte.

According to reports this evening, the Portuguese manager is set to step in and reunite with the player in Manchester.

Bust up

It is understood that David Luiz and manager Antonio Conte have fallen out.

This is believed to have stemmed from Luiz questioning the Italian’s tactics during the club’s 3-0 defeat in Rome.

The pair are understood to have a heated argument regarding the issue during a team meeting.

Conte was also angered by Luiz’s reaction after being substituted in their 3-3 draw during Chelsea’s first meeting against Roma.

The relationship was then left in tatters, with Conte dropping the former PSG man from his squad in their 1-0 win over Manchester United.

Chelsea’s hierarchy have since backed Conte over the situation.

Luiz has been left desperately unhappy with the situation and seeking a move away.

Conte refused to comment as to whether he would be restoring the player back into his squad on the weekend.

Chelsea travel to West Brom on Saturday, the ground where they last season won the title.

Mourinho ready to pounce

Jose Mourinho is set to take full advantage of the situation and will attempt to bring David Luiz to Old Trafford.

The pair have previously worked together at Chelsea and Mourinho is hoping to reunite with the player.

The Portuguese coach is keen to add to his defence and sees David Luiz as a suitable fit.

The Blues are hoping to sell Luiz to a club abroad, having received backlash for selling Nemanja Matic to their rivals.
