N’Golo Kante has backed Antonio Conte’s decision to drop David Luiz for Chelsea’s clash with Manchester United on Sunday.
The defender was not even named on the bench for the Premier League clash as Conte’s men secured a 1-0 victory over the Red Devils thanks to Alvaro Morata’s second-half header in west London.
There were reports in the build-up to the game that Conte opted to drop Luiz because the Brazilian had questioned the manager’s tactics in recent games.
And Kante, who made his return from a hamstring injury against the Red Devils on Sunday afternoon, insisted that it will always be up to the manager to make the best choices for the team.
Kante is quoted as saying by the Daily Express: “We have a lot of players in the squad and the manager makes the choices. These are things to keep.
“We have a lot of players squad and we need to use everyone.”
Chelsea’s win over Manchester United left them in fourth place in the Premier League table and nine points behind leaders Manchester City.
The Blues are just one point behind second placed Manchester United as they look to try and claw their way back into the title race as the hectic festive period in the Premier League looms large.
