Chelsea’s predicted team to face West Brom as Antonio Conte recalls David Luiz to his squad

Antonio Conte could flip his formation this weekend as Chelsea travel to West Brom ahead of their trip to take on Qarabag in the Champions League.

The Italian has found success with a new 3-5-2 shape this season, most notably against Atletico Madrid, but Tiemoue Bakayoko may not be fit enough to feature at the Hawthorns.

He is not yet in prime condition after suffering a knock and could be rested to play a part during the week in Europe.

If he is unable to start, Conte is likely to turn to Cesc Fabregas and N’Golo Kante after the Frenchman recovered from his own injury setback.

Defence will be another area where the Italian faces a serious selection dilemma.

Andreas Christensen has replaced David Luiz as first-choice in the middle of Chelsea’s back three but their manager did confirm that the Brazilian would return to the squad to take on the Baggies.

The Danish international should retain his place on merit and would deserve the nod, although after featuring against the Republic of Ireland during the international break his rival may have more freshness in his legs.

Luiz was not selected by Brazil and has not played a competitive game for two weeks. It remains up in the air over what Conte will do.

Up front, the Italian is likely to go for a front three of Pedro, Alvaro Morata and Eden Hazard in a 3-4-3 formation with Willian held back for Qarabag.

Predicted team: Courtois, Azpilicueta, Christensen, Cahill, Alonso, Zappacosta, Kante, Fabregas, Pedro, Hazard, Morata

Moses is back – Conte

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has said Victor Moses should return to action next week after he was sidelined for several weeks by a hamstring injury.

“Moses is progressing well – I hope to see him back next week,” Conte said at a press briefing yesterday.

Victor Moses, The 26-year-old Nigeria star hurt his hamstrings at his former club Crystal Palace last month. He has missed six Chelsea games as a result of this latest injury setback.

He will also miss today’s visit to West Bromwich Albion, but could be available for selection in a UEFA Champions League at Qarabag on Wednesday. Last week, the right wing-back announced on social media that his rehabilitation is going to plan.
