Chelsea’s £35m signing shows what he can do at last

It’s been a long wait to return to the top for Danny Drinkwater.

As a young man at Manchester United he probably dreamed of making his breakthrough at a title contender wearing red at Old Trafford.

It hasn’t worked out like that, but the 27 year old already has a title thank you very much, and now he’s finally made his Premier League debut for a top club.

He’s had to sit out most of the first part of the season injured, but now he’s finally ticked off his first Premier League start for Chelsea.

The midfielder was very good, especially in the first half where his passing was accurate and dangerous, and he showed great determination and aggression to get into the box on two occasions. With a yard more pace he would have opened the scoring.

While he replaced Cesc Fabregas in the lineup today, it’s Tiemoue Bakayoko who should be fearing for his place at the moment.
