Antonio Conte insisted that Chelsea are ‘trying their best’ in the transfer market in the aftermath of his side’s 2-1 victory over Tottenham.
Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata have all signed on the dotted line at Stamford Bridge this summer but the club are determined to bring in more reinforcements, with the Premier League champions struggling for numbers at the beginning of the campaign.
It’s understood Leicester’s Danny Drinkwater, Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk and Inter Milan’s Antonio Candreva remain on Chelsea’s radar this summer and Conte attempted to reassure supporters following the Blues’ win at Wembley.
‘The club is trying its best in the transfer market to improve our squad but I must be happy,’ he said.
‘We only have to think on the pitch and not to give answers to people. ‘This moment is not easy for us but I am very happy to have this group of players because they showed me great commitment, desire and will to improve after a great season.
