Eden Hazard on being scared
“It was a great game and a great achievement. It’s always difficult to go to Everton and play a great game like we did.
“We controlled it from the start until the end which is good for us.
“It’s this kind of game where beforehand you can be scared because when they play at home they are very strong and anything can happen.
“But we dealt with it and we played a fantastic game, we deserved to win.
“Sometimes it’s difficult because the guy [Gueye] is everywhere with me, but when it’s not me somebody else can make the difference, like Pedro did.”
Pedro on his strike against Everton
“I’m happy to have scored a goal and for the three points,” Pedro told Chelsea TV
“The three points were very important for the team to continue to be at the top of the league.
“It was good to score again and help the team and, for me, it was an amazing goal.
“Probably it’s the best [in a Chelsea shirt] because it was nice – on my left foot.”
Gary Neville on Chelsea’s final hurdle
“There are always big moments in the season but when we look back, I think Chelsea’s win at Everton will be regarded as the final hurdle.
“I know they’ve got to get over the line but just look at the fixtures they have.
“The game didn’t materialise as I thought it would. I’ve played and worked at Goodison Park and seen a hostile atmosphere develop to where it could become quite intense.
“Frank Lampard mentioned the word ’emotion’ in these types of games at Goodison Park, but it was a flat day. The performance of Everton never really connected with their fans, which suited Chelsea to play at a slower pace. The game drifted apart from the first 10 minutes. But Pedro’s goal changed the game. Chelsea controlled it from there.
“You could see from the celebrations from the Chelsea staff and players how big of a result that was.”
Gary Cahill on controlling the title race
“We’ve done what we needed to do. It was a great victory, you saw the celebrations. I said last week this was a cup final, a massive game for us and certainly one of our hardest games. The form they’ve been in at home proves that, so for us to win 3-0 was fantastic.
“It was convincing in the end but we had to work very hard for it. In the first half it was very tough and we felt we had to go to the next level, we spoke about not leaving anything out there in the second half and the lads did that.
“What a special goal from Pedro as well, at times in games you need a little bit of class and that’s what he gave us today. He’s a fantastic footballer and he whipped it in the top corner. That gave us a platform to go on because they had to commit players forward and we got the second and the third.
“We’ve been saying in our dressing room that we expect them (Tottenham)to win every single game, so it’s down to us and it’s in our hands. They’re pushing us until the end.”
