GARY CAHILL has revealed he shot Diego Costa a warning in Chelsea’s game against Stoke.
The fiery striker got himself booked early on in the game for a foul.
And he had several clashes with Stoke defenders in the game.
Cahill was worried the forward could get himself sent off if he didn’t control his aggression, so he warned his colleague off getting stuck into the opposition.
And Costa got through the game without another caution and helped his side to a 2-1 win against the Potters.
“I remember speaking to Diego in the first half, telling him just to keep his cool,” said Cahill.
“He’s on the edge at times, but that’s the way he plays and they’re a physical team.
“It’s important we didn’t get dragged into that kind of fighting battle and Diego handled himself really well up there.
“A little bit of protection from the referee maybe in the second half got him a few more fouls.
“Sometimes his reputation goes against him a little bit but he got a few free kicks and kept his head.”
