Antonio Conte in disagreement with Chelsea’s board over £70m transfer

Antonio Conte is at odds with Chelsea’s hierarchy over which striker to sign this summer, according to reports.

The Sun claims that Antonio Conte’s preference is to sign Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid.

But technical director Michael Emenalo wants to re-sign Romelu Lukaku from Everton and is arguing that the Belgian’s experience of the Premier League should play a factor in the club’s decision.

The Premier League leaders will spend £70 million a new striker, with Morata and Lukaku the two most realistic options.

The report also claims that Diego Costa is expected to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

Tianjin Quanjian failed with a £90 million offer for the Spain international in the January window but are expected to reignite their interest this summer.

Costa has also become increasingly vocal about this potentially being his last campaign at Stamford Bridge.

‘Anything can happen. Why not? You never know,’ he told El Larguero last week.

‘Now I’m happy at Chelsea but if tomorrow the Chinese come and Chelsea tell me I have to go, I will no longer want to stay with them.’

  1. Morata would be a good buy but chelsea are used to physical and strong strikers and lukaku fit that bill perfectly. He (lukaku) knows the premier league very well and knows majority of the chelsea players but if we are going to take Andy Carroll and Christian Beteke as a study then I prefer Morata who work is serious hardworker.

  2. I support Morata coming to Chelsea he has more experience and we need a player who have the Champions league experience and i think Morata has that experience than Lukaku

  3. There is no guarantee whether Morata or Lukaku would be better. During Jose’s first stint at Chelsea, Abrahmovich forced us to buy Shevchenko, who, at the time was the best striker in Europe but he didn’t shine at Chelsea. Similarly, Torres came to Chelsea from Liverpool, at the time a direct premier league rival but he ended up being a shadow of himself despite staying in the same league. Based on these two experiences we should make a decision on who can play better in a 3-4-3 as the lone striker up front. Personally, Id want Lukaku because of his physicality in terms of bossing the opposition centre backs. That makes him a like for like replacement to Costa. However, Conte the manager of the team so if he wants Morata then the board ought to respect his choice; after all the buck stops with the manager if the team doesn’t perform!!!

  4. Based on the formation we playing now, Morata will adapt quickly, he he is very mobile with ball so as well Lukaku …. but Conte is in best position to know better deal . Up blue

  5. I Prefer Morata Than Lukaku, Because A Striker Is A Striker It Doesn’t Mean Whether Morata Has Epl Experience Or Not So Chelsea Board Should Respect Conte’s Choice Because He Is The Manager And He Knows What He Wants In The Team.
