Eden Hazard leads Europe in impressive stat

After a turbulent year last term, Eden Hazard is back to his best this season and has been a huge part of the reason why Chelsea are currently sat top of the Premier League pile and looking odds-on to win the title.

Under the guidance of Antonio Conte, Chelsea are flying this season, despite a slow start, and are chasing down the all-time Premier League record for most consecutive wins in a single season- but they’ll have to overcome London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in a few weeks if they’re to do so.

With Hazard in top form though anything is possible and one statistic has shown that the Belgian is a thorn in the side of opposition defenders in more ways than one, as he leads Europe’s top five leagues in one area.

Winning the ball back 18 times in the final third this season, opposing defenders cannot afford to get complacent when facing Hazard and Stoke City will need to bare that in mind in this weekend’s clash.

Marcos Alonso took to social media to thank Chelsea’s fans for their support after he celebrated his 26th birthday this week.

The Spanish defender has been a regular fixture in the Blues’ first team this season following his arrival at the club in the summer transfer window.

The defender has made 13 Premier League appearances for Antonio Conte’s men this term to help the Blues build a six-point lead at the top of the table.

Indeed, the west London side have won their last 12 games in a row in the top flight to firmly establish themselves as the favourites to win the title this season.

And Alonso was clearly pleased to be celebrating his birthday on Wednesday as he blew out the candles on his cake and sent a message to Chelsea supporters.

Michael Owen states his prediction for Chelsea v Stoke

Michael Owen is fully expecting to see Chelsea continue their strong form in the Premier League by beating Stoke City at Stamford Bridge this weekend.

The west London side have been the Premier League’s top performers this season and have won their last 12 games in a row to leave them six points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

Chelsea have established themselves as the firm favourites to win the title this season thanks to their impressive performances under new manager Antonio Conte.

The Blues were 3-0 winners over Bournemouth on Boxing Day at Stamford Bridge in their most recent top flight outing.

Stoke, meanwhile, were beaten 4-1 by Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday night.

And former Manchester United striker Owen is fully expecting the Blues to claim all three points against the Potters.

Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “Stoke took four points out of the title favourites last season but I can’t see them getting anything at Stamford Bridge against a Chelsea side whose winning run will come to an end at some stage – but not perhaps at the hands of the Potters managed by former Blues’ striker Mark Hughes.”
