Club’s sporting director reveals: Chelsea have no option to buy Hazard

We all know how good and important play Eden Hazard is for Chelsea. He is currently one of the best players in the world, and it is an absolute delight watching him play. So think how good it would be to have two Hazards playing together instead of one!!

Yes, without getting any more corny, let me reveal that I am talking about Eden’s younger brother Thorgan Hazard, who is, as many of you know, a former Chelsea player. He is a real talent, and Chelsea have been thinking of buying him back from his current team Borussia Monchengladbach, by exercising the buy-back clause in his sale contract.

But wait a minute!! According to the Bundesliga club, there exists no such active clause, whereby Chelsea can buy him at a pre-determined price. Atleast that is what Hazard himself thinks. He said, talking to Express.

“I don’t know anything about this story once published in a paper,” said the Belgian referring to an article in Bild, where he reportedly says he wants to play with elder brother Eden at Stamford Bridge.

Thorgan Hazard has settled quite well into the German team, playing well almost every time he steps on to the pitch in their colors. This season, his numbers are actually astonishing – 7 goals in 9 appearances for the winger. He had 6 goals in all of last season. So it is quite understandable that Monchengladbach are reluctant to let the 23 year old leave.

Borussia Monchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl denied that there was any such buy-back clause. Although he said,

“When we get a Chelsea player then Chelsea has the option, in whichever way that may be, to consider this player, but not active.”

which basically means no buy-back option exists but Chelsea can buy him at a price they demand as they deem necessary.

Hazard was let go because as a young player he had to get more experience of starting games on a regular basis, before trying it for the Chelsea first team in the Premier League.

Loaning him to Zulte Waregem was the right thing, but selling him wasn’t. That is the reason we may have to struggle to get such an awesome player back to Stamford Bridge. Please, not another Kevin De Bruyne!!!

  1. I think selling Hazard Jr. and Kevin was a great mistake by Jose. I mean these are all young players, they have more energy and great impart in the game especially what teams want now goals and accurate passes. Bringing some of these skills back will be a great help to Conte.
