5 great possible midfield combos for Chelsea; which is the best?

Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are simply on cloud nine after their weekend performance, not to mention the blossoming partnership between Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas – and we don’t blame them.

To stop them going on and on about how they think they will be bringing the Premier League title back to West London this season, our landlord has asked them the question of just who they think should start in their midfield.

We seem to agree on the best side but there are a couple of other options and if Jose Mourinho and his men want to go the distance in not only the league but in Europe and the cup competitions this season, they will need to change it up on several occasions and give their star men a rest.

With that in mind, here are five midfield combinations Chelsea and their Special One could use, and our pick of the bunch.

  1. 4 of the 5 formations you have suggested contains Matic in it…..this shows how valuable he is for us…..I don’t have any problem with Salah playing even in big games…..we need fresh legs…when we don’t have enough of it…he may prove useful…..

    • Very good observation Aakash. Matic plays at a position that is extremely exclusive (not that exclusive is any less extreme) to him and suits his capabilities. We can easily say he is indispensable at his position.
