Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson believes that Eden Hazard will ultimately prove to be the difference for Chelsea FC against Cardiff City on Saturday.
Hazard has started the new Premier League season in electrifying fashion, providing two goals and two assists as Chelsea have romped to the top of the table.
The Belgian winger is seemingly relishing his new role in the starting XI under Maurizio Sarri, who came in to replace Antonio Conte as head coach during the summer.
Four wins out of four has seen Chelsea emerge as dark horses for the title already and if their talismanic midfielder can stay fit and firing over the next few months they could well knock Man City off their perch come May.
Cardiff City are up next for Sarri’s men on Saturday at Stamford Bridge and Sky Sports pundit Merson is backing the home side to come out on top.
Merson told Sky Sports: “Cardiff will cause problems from set-pieces but will they get enough of the ball.
Chelsea have been excellent going forward. Cardiff will not be able to live with Eden Hazard – he’s just so good.”
Summer signings Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic and Kepa have all settled in nicely at Chelsea and are already have a strong impact on the pitch, particularly the Italian playmaker whose range of passing has helped to release Hazard in more advanced positions.
Chelsea supporters will be hopeful that the team can pick up another three points this weekend, whilst also sending out a message to their rivals with another strong performance.
Cardiff have yet to win a single game in their 2018-19 campaign and it would be a major shock if they ended that streak by securing three points in London on Saturday.
