Maurizio Sarri is off to a great start with Chelsea. Expectations were low after the new coach arrived late in the summer, with little time to prepare or sign players.
Instead, the Blues have won four from four in the Premier League, and now have two weeks off to improve further.
The Premier League‘s official site notes that this four in a row equals some of the league’s great managers – like Jose Mourinho in his first spell at the club.
The record for successive wins from first PL matches is jointly-held by Carlo Ancelotti and Pep Guardiola, who managed six. That means that if Maurizio Sarri can beat Cardiff and West Ham, Sarri will be included in the top tier. If they then go on to beat Liverpool the following week, he will stand alone as the record holder with 7 wins.
That’s still some way off, but we’re already over halfway there…
