Chelsea Roundup: Sarri sent Kovacic warning, Courtois aims dig at Blues, Morata revelation

Mateo Kovacic needs to play regularly in order to fulfil his enormous potential, Croatia boss Zlatko Dalic has warned Maurizio Sarri.

“He has done well to change clubs,” he told Croatian newspaper Sportske Novosti.

“He can only progress by playing constantly.

“At Real Madrid, he played now and again, and that was not enough for him.

“He has enormous potential. I hope he will have more opportunities at Chelsea.”

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has taken a swipe at his former Chelsea team-mates.

“I get on with everyone very well, the communication with the defence is going well, even during the competition,” he said.

“In training, you see that the level is high. I am now experiencing on a daily basis that Sergio Ramos is the best centre-back in the world.

“The level [at Real Madrid] is higher than at Chelsea.”

Alvaro Morata has revealed he considered leaving Chelsea this summer after just one season at Stamford Bridge.

“I considered playing in Spain again, going back to Italy,” he said.

“Last year I was not happy, everything was a disaster.

“I left the country and did not know where I was.

“Not going to the World Cup was hard for me.

“I did not have the best season and the coach made the decision.

“I do not resent (Julen) Lopetegui for not taking me to the World Cup.

“I wish him the best at Real Madrid.

“There are many things to improve (with Spain), but if we do what the coach asks we will win again.”
