Chelsea news: Maurizio Sarri to reveal big squad decision, Eden Hazard involved

CHELSEA boss Maurizio Sarri has revealed he knows who the permanent captain of the club will be.

But the Blues manager will not make his choice public until he has told the players in person.

Gary Cahill is officially the club captain but with the former England star down the pecking order Sarri is set to make a change.

Eden Hazard and Cesar Azpilicueta are said to be the leading candidates to become Chelsea skipper.

Sarri took charge at Stamford Bridge this summer, replacing Antonio Conte.

And he has led Chelsea to four straight Premier League wins to kick off his reign in style.

“I have my idea, I have decided, but before telling you my decision I would like to speak to the players and the club,” Sarri said.

“In this moment it’s not possible so for the moment the captain is Azpilicueta.

“I will tell you the final decision after I will be able to talk with the players and the club.”

Sarri also opened up on a potential John Terry return to the coaching staff at Stamford Bridge.

“The last time I spoke with him he told me he wants to play for another season,” the Italian said.

“I don’t know now the situation, but Chelsea is his home, of course.

“Of course (I am open to the idea). Of course he would be a point of reference for me and everyone here.

“I don’t know (if there is a chance). He told me other things, he told me he wants to play. I have to speak to him.”

Chelsea return to action against Cardiff in the Premier League tomorrow at 3pm.

The Blues will look to keep up the pace with Liverpool at the top of the table.
