SKY SPORTS man Dharmesh Sheth has given the latest on two Chelsea transfer deals.
Sheth has been told by his Sky Italy colleagues that AC Milan are interested in midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.
Former Blues boss Antonio Conte signed the France international just over 12 months ago for a fee of £40million.
But his first season was a huge disappointment as the midfielder failed to adapt to the rigours of the Premier League.
Sheth says it’s unlikely Chelsea will sell but that could be a different case for Thibaut Courtois.
He told the Sky Sports transfer talk podcast: “Our colleagues in Italy are saying AC Milan are keen on Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.
“It’s safe to say this one would be very difficult to get over the line.
“You’ll remember Bakayoko joined from Monaco for £40m last summer and it’s though that Milan are unlikely to be able to afford what the asking price would be for Bakayoko should Chelsea want to sell.
“Rather like if you look at the situation with Higuain, they’re not going outright buying him.
“It’s a loan then with an option or obligation to buy afterwards. I think financial constraints could stop that one from happening.”
On Courtois, Sheth added: “The situation is a really delicate one with Courtois because we all know he’s entering the final year of his contract,” Sheth said on the Sky Sports transfer talk podcast.
“Real Madrid value him at £32m. Courtois we know wants to go due to family reasons. His two children are there, his ex-partner is in Madrid.
“But Chelsea will not resume talks with Real Madrid unless they’ve got a replacement.
“That replacement will come from the list of Jordan Pickford, Kasper Schmeichel and Jack Butland.
“Of those three as you say on paper it would look like the easiest one to deal with and get over the line would be Jack Butland because Jack Butland himself knows he’s No.2 at England.
“If he’s got any aspirations to be No.1 he’s going to need to be playing in the Premier League surely.”
