Chelsea may have to allow Napoli to sign midfielder Cesc Fabregas as part of a deal for Jorginho.
Jorginho is being heavily linked with a Premier League move this summer after enjoying an excellent season in Serie A.
Manchester City wants to sign the 26-year-old and it looked as though they would win the race for his signature.
However, the Blues have now entered the race for Jorginho and their efforts to bring him in are strengthening.
Chelsea has been speaking to Napoli about a deal worth over £50m, but an alternative has now been suggested.
The Italian club, according to La Repubblica, wants Fabregas to be involved in the transfer so they can instantly bolster their midfield.
The 31-year-old won his place back in the Chelsea team last season under Antonio Conte, but he has been linked with a move to Italy in the past.
The Spaniard was previously a target for AC Milan and he could now finally get his move to Serie A.
Chelsea can buy Higuain and Rugani for £97m following Ronaldo arrival at Juventus
The Serie A champions are looking to balance their books somewhat following the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Portuguese superstar will earn around £7m a year, having cost Juventus £105m to buy from Real Madrid.
Chelsea is ready to sign Italy center-half Rugani for around £35m.
But his arrival has largely been dependent on Maurizio Sarri’s appointment as the Blues’ new manager.
For now, Antonio Conte remains in charge and has taken training sessions at the start of pre-season.
And arrival for Sarri, though, is imminent following his and Conte’s contract sagas at Napoli and Chelsea respectively.
The Blues have been linked with interest in Argentina striker Higuain too.
And according to TransferMarketWeb, Ronaldo’s arrival at Juventus means Chelsea could sign both Rugani and Higuain.
The pair would apparently be available for a double deal worth around £97m.
Chelsea may have swung shock double deal for Italian pair
Chelsea was unexpectedly connected with a double transfer swoop last night, and it’s set Twitter aflame.
From stalemate on the appointment of Maurizio Sarri, and seemingly left in the dust by Manchester City deal trying to complete a move for Jorginho, they look to have been resurrected in both pursuits.
Sudden Tweets from some of the major players in the transfer gossip business got people talking about a rumored double deal for the two having been agreed by Napoli and the Blues.
There’s even a rogue mention of Higuain coming too from Sky Italia’s Angelo Mangiante.

It’s the stuff of dreams for Chelsea fans who had been on the verge of giving up on anyone being signed.
They’re willing to believe anything if it gives them hope, even a move as shocking as this.
Jorginho choosing Chelsea ahead of Manchester City must mean he’s really been convinced by what we’re planning to do to help Sarri’s project off the ground. It also shows we’re still serious about competing at the top level.
