ROBERT LEWANDOSKI is still desperate to quit Bayern Munich.
A report in German tabloid Bild on Tuesday claimed the Polish striker was ready to stay with the Bundesliga giants.
But a source close to the 29-year-old star insisted the Chelsea target wanted out and was continuing to angle for a move.
“Bild published a fake story saying Robert is now ready to stay,” said the source.
“Nothing has changed, Robert wishes to leave and Bayern refuse to sell. He will keep pushing to go.”
Real Madrid are among the sides also linked with Lewandowski, who has scored 151 goals in 198 appearances for Bayern.
The Bundesliga giants have even refused to put a price on his head and are playing hardball insisting they will not sell whatever the offer.
Super agent Pini Zihavi, who mastermind the £200m sale of Neymar from Barcelona to Paris St-Germain, is overseeing Lewandowski’s planned exit.
CITY MAKE ENQUIRY FOR CHELSEA TARGET MATEO KOVACIC
Premier League rivals Manchester City have joined Chelsea by making an enquiry to Real Madrid over a deal to sign Mateo Kovacic.
The Mirror reports that City are considering a move for Kovacic in case a deal to sign Jorginho from Napoli falls through.
Pep Guardiola’s men are putting plans in place as they brace themselves for late interest from Chelsea for Jorginho.
There have been some suggestions that Chelsea and Napoli could negotiate a deal for Jorginho in a bid to make up the numbers in the former’s pursuit of Maurizio Sarri.
Kovacic, who is preparing to face England in the World Cup semi-final on Wednesday night, is looking to leave Real Madrid this summer.
The Croatian fell out of favour at the Bernabeu last season and is looking for regular game time elsewhere.
Chelsea had earmarked the player as a potential target for Sarri, but both club’s interest in Jorginho could be the deciding factor.
