Chelsea have identified Atletico Madrid star Sime Vrsaljko as a summer target, according to reports from Italy.
It’s believed that the Blues have drawn up a shortlist of transfer targets ahead of Maurizio Sarri’s imminent appointment as the club’s manager, and Vrsaljko is among the options under consideration.
The right-back is currently away on international duty at the World Cup. Vrsaljko has helped his native Croatia to a shock appearance in the illustrious competition’s final, and he will hope to come away from the tournament as a World Cup winner.
Vrsaljko enjoyed an impressive season domestically in Spain and flourished in Diego Simeone’s Atletico side. His displays have caught the eyes of many, it seems, and Chelsea are the latest club to be linked.
The Blues could see Davide Zappacosta leave the club this summer amid links with Inter Milan and it seems they are planning a raid on Atletico to prise away Vrsaljko as a new starting right-back.
CHELSEA LINKED WITH STEPHAN EL SHAARAWY WITH ROMA READY TO SELLChelsea are being linked with a move for AS Roma attacker Stephan El Shaarawy.
Reports in Italy from Calcio Mercato state that Roma could sell the player for as little as €25 million this summer.
El Shaarawy is a player that was often linked with moves to Napoli during Maurizio Sarri’s time there.
The incoming Chelsea boss is a known admirer of the Italian and is said to have shortlisted him as a transfer target this summer.
At the age of 25, El Shaarawy has never managed to fulfil his potential, with a lot expected of him from a young age at Milan.
He impressed last season under Eusebio Di Francesco, scoring seven times in 25 league starts.
The Italian international put in a glittering performance against Chelsea in the Champions League.
He scored twice in Rome to help his side to a 3-0 victory during the group stages of the competition last season.
