Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard is now a target for Barcelona as well as Real Madrid according to reports from Spain.
Since Cristiano Ronaldo left Real Madrid for Juventus, there has been speculation about who the European Champions would target to replace the Portuguese star.
Hazard, Harry Kane, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe have all been mentioned but now Barcelona has emerged as Hazard’s potential next destination.
Stories today suggest that representatives from Barcelona have been in contact with Hazard’s agent and the player is reportedly keen on leaving Stamford Bridge.
Barcelona was unable to sign Antoine Griezmann, reportedly their number one target at the start of the summer.
The French striker chose to remain at Atletico Madrid, much to the dismay of Barcelona who was confident of landing the player who was once a transfer target for Manchester United.
Any move for Hazard will have to wait until the World Cup has concluded and he’s still involved with Belgium who will face England in the third-place play-off on Saturday.
There is a further potential complication with Chelsea reportedly close to replacing manager Antonio Conte with Maurizio Sarri. If Sarri does arrive, he won’t want to see one of his star players leave so quickly.
Barcelona wants a high profile name to placate their fans who have not been bowled over by the club’s transfer activity so far. There was also some surprise that Paulinho left the club for China.
Hazard could be in the fortunate position of being able to choose between La Liga’s two biggest clubs with Real Madrid still very keen on the player.
However, some believe Real would prefer to use their transfer kitty to pursue PSG stars Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.
Fulham announce shock arrival of Chelsea target in a club-record deal
Fulham has announced they have signed Jean Seri from French side Nice on a four-year deal until 2022 with an option to a further 12 months.
The Cottagers have fended off interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe to land the 26-year-old on a reported club-record deal worth £30m.
Seri was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea but the Premier League giants were not willing to intensify their interest until they resolve their managerial situation.
Chelsea’s indecisiveness has allowed Fulham to prise the highly-rated central midfielder to Craven Cottage in one of the coup’s of the summer.
“It was a long day yesterday so it was great to get the move finalised,” Seri told the club’s official website.
“Now, I’m ready to get started and looking forward to meeting the squad and getting to know them, the head coach and his staff better.
“I’m delighted to be here, it’s a new adventure that starts for me and I’m hoping it will all go well.”
Seri’s arrival caps what has been a really positive season for the newly-promoted side.
Fulham has not only signed one of the most sought after the midfielder’s in Europe they have also secured the long-term futures of star men Ryan Sessegnon and Tom Cairney.
Only Marco Verratti (92.7) averaged more passes per game than Seri (86.3) in France’s top tier last season.
