Chelsea eyeing summer swoop for Italian international defender

Chelsea are understood to be contemplating a summer swoop for Roma wing-back Alessandro Florenzi.

According to claims from Italy, the versatile Roma star is yet to come to a resolution over his future with Eusebio Di Francesco’s side, prompting talk of a summer exit.

Chelsea are well-stocked with wide defensive options but according to Gazzetta dello Sport, as cited by Sky Sports, Florenzi has emerged as a potential target.

Although the Blues are stated to have only expressed an interest in the player, with no formal offer made just yet, their interest has previously been reported, with Florenzi evidently a long-term target for the club.

Florenzi is capable of playing in a number of different positions. Along with being adept as a right-back or right wing-back, he is also deployable in central midfield.

Chelsea have been linked with right-sided defenders in recent times, indicating that the club could be on the lookout for a new first-choice in this position.

MAURIZIO SARRI SET TO BE NAMED CHELSEA BOSS

Chelsea are set to appoint Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri as first team-manager and will bring in four key players in the process, according to Football London.

Antonio Conte is set to depart the club after falling out with those above him despite winning two trophies in his first two seasons.

Sarri led Napoli to 2nd place in Serie A last season, but the club are yet to pay his buy out clause of €8m which expired last week.

Chelsea were at times frustrating to watch last term and were always going to depart with their first team boss.

Real Madrid are keen to hire Conte after they lost Zinedine Zidane who decided to leave the club after winning the Champions League three years in succession.

Piotr Zielinski, Gonzalo Higuain, Elseid Hysaj and Kalidou Koulibaly are the four players which Sarri is looking to bring to the West London club in a transfer shake up this summer.
