An interesting link has emerged from the rumour mill.
According to Premium Sport, as cited by the Daily Star, AC Milan could be forced to sell their 19-year-old goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Thibaut Courtois has been continuously linked with a move away from the club, and Chelsea’s poor season could force the 26-year-old to seek pastures new.
Accordingly, it would be sensible that Chelsea would target AC Milan’s goalkeeper as a prospective replacement for Thibaut Courtois, if the Belgian opts to leave the Blues in the summer transfer window.
Donnarumma is valued at £40M by transfermarkt, and his signature would command a hefty investment while considering that he signed a new four-year contract only ten months ago.
Nevertheless, Milan’s acknowledgement that they could be forced to sell one of their prized assets may provide Chelsea with greater confidence if they’re required to replace Thibaut Courtois.
LIVERPOOL SET TO SIGN ISAAC CHRISTIE-DAVIES
Liverpool are set to sign Chelsea midfielder Isaac Christie-Davies on a free transfer, according to a report from ESPN.
The 20-year-old was not offered a new contract by Chelsea and Liverpool swooped in earlier this year to offer him a trial ahead of other interested clubs.
It seems like he impressed the academy staff at Liverpool whilst on trial as they look set to offer him a contract.
Christie-Davies becomes the second young player, after Dominic Solanke, to join the Reds from Chelsea in just two years.
However, whereas Solanke went into the Reds first-team, Christie-Davies looks like he’ll join up with the academy squad.
Also, Liverpool were required to pay a fee for Solanke as he was offered a deal at Chelsea, but they’ll get Christie-Davies for free as he was not offered a contract with the London club.
The midfielder, who won two FA Youth Cups and UEFA Youth League at Chelsea, should be announced as a Liverpool player in the coming days.
