‘Appoint this man’ – Chelsea fans send message to Roman Abramovich over next Blues manager

Chelsea fans are calling for Jody Morris to be named as Antonio Conte’s successor following a disappointing draw against Huddersfield Town earlier in the week.

Given the Italian tactician’s comments regarding his future following the game at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night, many feel he won’t be at the club come next season.

“I think for this season this is my last game,” he told reporters. “It’s always the same and I don’t have anything to add. This is not my task, there is a club to judge the situation and then to take the best decision.”

Although the ex-Juventus boss signed a new deal with the club last summer, talk of him going back to Italy with AC Milan or the national team has dominated the headlines for much of the season.

It can be argued that speculation over his future as affected the Blues as they experienced a massive dip in form from the turn of the year, with the draw against Town denting their chances of Champions League qualification.

With just one Premier League game remaining, Conte’s side sit fifth in the table, two points behind Liverpool and need a favour from Brighton & Hove Albion at the weekend if they’re to seal a top four finish.

Meanwhile, Morris has done a fantastic job with the Blues’ u18’s team this season.

Under his guidance the club’s talented youngsters won almost every trophy available to them this term.

The FA Youth Cup, the U18 Premier League Southern title, the U18 Premier League Cup and the U18 Premier League national final were all picked up to showcase their dominance at this level.

Morris’ work isn’t going unnoticed and some fans believe he will be the perfect replacement for Conte.

Whether Conte leave Chelsea at the end of the season remains to be seen, but the west London outfit wrap up the season against Newcastle United on Sunday before facing Manchester United in the FA Cup final six days later.
