N’Golo Kante is adamant that Chelsea FC can beat Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday afternoon.
The Blues missed out on a top-four spot this season following a fifth-placed finish in the Premier League table.
Chelsea FC struggled to defend their Premier League crown and now face the prospect of another season without Champions League football.
The west London side can still end the 2017-18 campaign on a high note if Chelsea FC can win the FA Cup at Wembley this weekend.
The Blues were 2-0 winners against Southampton in the FA Cup semi-final to reach the FA Cup showpiece in successive seasons.
Chelsea FC were 1-0 winners against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge back in October before Jose Mourinho’s side beat the west London outfit 2-1 at Old Trafford earlier this year.
Speaking to the club’s website about the FA Cup final on Saturday evening, Kante said:
“Every final is different.
“We have played Manchester United twice this season, we have won once and lost once, and I think we have our chances of winning this game and getting this trophy.”
Kante won the PFA player of the year after the Blues won the Premier League title in the defensive midfielder’s first season at Chelsea FC in 2016-17.
Chelsea FC lost 2-1 to Arsenal in the FA Cup final at Wembley last season to miss out on a double in Conte’s first season in charge.
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino ready to reject Chelsea approach
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is set to snub any approach from Chelsea, reports say.
Pochettino has been mulling over his options and his interest in a potential exit from Spurs was peaked when Roman Abramovich told Chelsea he wanted the Argentinian at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are on the hunt for a new manager as Antonio Conte is expected to be given the boot after the FA Cup final on Saturday.
A disappointing season and Conte’s continuous outbursts against the Blues hierachy seems to have sealed the Italian’s fate, and Abramovich believes Pochettino would be the perfect man to take over.
But, the Daily Star claim Pochettino will reject Chelsea’s advances as he is confident Tottenham will back him in the transfer market.
Pochettino hit out at Spurs chairman Daniel Levy after Tottenham’s final game of the season, insisting the club needed to spend more money if they truly wanted to compete for silverware.
The Tottenham boss went as far to hint he may walk if Levy did not back him, but Pochettino believes he will be given the funds he wants this summer.
The outburst alerted Chelsea and Pochettino has been aware of their interest in him as he considered his next move. But, Pochettino is happy to stay at Tottenham as long as he is given sufficient funds to make a title-winning squad.
Tottenham have failed to launch a sustained title challenge in recent seasons and Pochettino is desperate to add some world class players to his ranks, as well as strengthen the depth of the team.
Chelsea will have to look elsewhere, but the Blues seem to be cooling their interest in Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri.
The Blues would have to pay Juventus a compensation fee to lure Allegri away, and Chelsea are reluctant to fork out extra money on top of the Conte’s severance package.
Conte still has a year left on his current contract, which means Chelsea will either have to fire him or allow him to see out his deal.
