Pundit Danny Murphy has slammed Antonio Conte after Chelsea’s 3-1 defeat to Spurs yesterday and claims that the Blues boss should stop blaming the board and start looking at himself.
The Blues are now dangerously close to missing out on Champions League qualification for next season and throughout the campaign the Italian has made constant digs at the Blues board.
However, the performances on the pitch have not been good enough this season and the Blues are paying for that.
That means that Murphy believes the Blues are missing some crucial players and that Conte should be thinking about his own tactics and not blaming the board.
“When you think of Cahill, Luiz and Azpilicueta, that three that won the league. Luiz he has fallen out with, by all accounts, Cahill is on the bench, why haven’t they played?” Murphy said on Match of the Day 2 after the defeat at Stamford Bridge.
“Why did he change the system to a 3-5-2 for so many parts of the season? Maybe he felt that was better for Hazard, I’m not sure.
“Even Kante, he has lost Matic, and who is helping him? Why isn’t Drinkwater starting more? For me, anyway.
“So it is not all about the transfer policy and who he hasn’t signed and who he wants to sign, he has to take some responsibility.
“Willian hasn’t started enough games, Pedro hasn’t started enough games, they are two top quality players so sometimes you have to look in the mirror, sometimes it is not always somebody else’s fault.”
