Chelsea leading Isco talks over Man City due to 1 big reason – report

Chelsea could well be in pole position to sign Isco from Real Madrid this summer over Manchester City due to the club’s strong Spanish connection.

The Blues have Spain internationals Pedro, Cesc Fabregas, Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso in their ranks, but it is the link with former Madrid striker Alvaro Morata that seems to be the strongest after their time together.

Isco has started to feel frustrated at Real Madrid with the 25-year-old having made 18 starts in La Liga, with seven substitute appearances in the league, and he vented that after netting a hat-trick for Spain against Argentina on Tuesday night.

“In Madrid, I don’t have the confidence a player needs,” he told Marca. “The matches with the national team give me life. Here, I have the confidence of the coach.

“I want to show that I’m a good player. [Julen] Lopetegui shows me confidence with the minutes he gives me.

“Maybe I’m the problem in Madrid. I don’t know how to win Zidane’s confidence.”

And that ties in nicely with reports from Don Balon that Blues striker Morata is trying to convince Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich to sign the attacking midfielder in a deal that could be worth around €89m.
