Michy Batshuayi has revealed the real reason behind his decision to join Borussia Dortmund on loan from Chelsea.
The Belgian international was part of a transfer merry go round on deadline day as he joined Bundesliga outfit on loan for the remainder of the season after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang moved to Arsenal in a £55m deal which in turn allowed Olivier Giroud to swap the Emirates Stadium for Stamford Bridge.
With Dortmund in action on Friday night, Batshuayi was the first of trio to play for his new club and it took the 24-year-old just 34 minutes to mark his debut with a goal against FC Koln as he slotted home from close range following excellent work from Jeremy Toljan.
He added another after the break to restore Dortmund’s lead and then capped off a stunning debut by claiming an assist for former Blues forward Andre Schurrle to finally secure all three points.
When quizzed about his reasoning for making the move to the Signal Iduna Park, Batshuayi provided an hilarious response.
“I love Borussia Dortmund. Black and yellow are my favorite colours because I love Batman and Spongebob,” he revealed.

Taking to Twitter after the game, the striker posted: “90minutes, two goals, an assist & a great victory. Dream debut with Borussia Dortmund.
Batshuayi had netted 10 goals across all competitions prior to his temporary departure from the West London outfit and now has the opportunity to nail down a regular place in the Dortmund side and hopefully force his way into Roberto Martinez’s plans for this summer’s World Cup.
Whether the striker has a long-term future at his parent club remains to be seen, but Blues supporters are certainly keeping a close eye on his progress out in Germany and it is safe to say that a large section are already impressed with how the loan deal is going.
