Luis Enrique tells Chelsea: I will replace Antonio Conte if this one player is signed

LUIS ENRIQUE has reportedly told Chelsea he wants the club to sign Marco Asensio from Real Madrid if he is to take over from Antonio Conte.

Chelsea could sack Conte if the Blues slip to a third consecutive defeat against West Brom on Monday night.

The Premier League champions are currently stuck in a rut with back-to-back losses against Watford and Bournemouth plunging Conte’s future into uncertainty.

Express Sport understands former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique is set to take the reins, with the Spaniard supposedly already house-hunting in London.

But Spanish outlet Don Balon claim Enrique has told Chelsea he wants Real Madrid youngster Asensio at Stamford Bridge.

The Spain international has been linked with moves to Manchester United and Arsenal in recent times.

Yet it appears Chelsea could be his next club with Enrique determined to bring him to west London.

It is said, however, that the Blues have no problem with accommodating his request.

Don Balon say Asensio has been in Chelsea’s sights for a while amid uncertainty over the long-term future of Eden Hazard.

Hazard is wanted at Real as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, who may pursue a new challenge elsewhere in the summer.

And Roman Abramovich has been eyeing Asensio as his replacement.

Meanwhile, current Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde refused to be drawn into discussing predecessor Enrique taking the Chelsea job.

“You are making a big prediction, because at the moment nothing has happened,” he said.

“Do you want me to tell you what’s going to happen in the future? Or about your prediction?

“At the moment there is no changes so far.”

Enrique is currently on a sabbatical following his Barcelona departure last summer.
