Man-of-the-match Eden Hazard praised Olivier Giroud’s supporting performance in Chelsea’s 3-0 win over West Brom at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.
Hazard netted twice, with Victor Moses also on the scoresheet, as Antonio Conte’s side secured their first home win of 2018 to move up to fourth in the Premier League table.
Hazard’s first goal on 25 minutes came via a clever flick from Giroud, and, on his first start for Chelsea, the £18m January deadline day signing from Arsenal proved an effective link man with Hazard and Pedro during his 61 minutes on the field.
“He is a great target man, maybe one of the best in England,” the Belgium international told Sky Sports.
“So we can pass the ball and go around him. He is a good point of reference. We have plenty though as we have him, Alvaro [Morata] and I can play striker also.”
Chelsea next face Hull City at Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup fifth round on Friday, live on Shed End mobile application, before a glamour Champions League Round of 16 home first-leg tie against Barcelona on Tuesday, 20 February, which will be again live on Shed End mobile application [kick-off 7.45 pm].
And Hazard was delighted to get back to winning ways following back-to-back Premier League defeats to Bournemouth and Watford.
“We showed a response and did well in front of our fans,” he continued.
“It’s always good to play a game like this. Now we face Hull and Barca and we are ready. It’s not easy to lose two games but now we are back, we are Chelsea, the champions, we have to give everything.
“Sometimes you lose. The most important thing is to be together. We worked together and talked together. Today we showed great character defensively and offensively.”
