Eden Hazard believes Chelsea FC signing Olivier Giroud will bring out the best in the club’s talented wingers.
The France international moved to the defending Premier League champions in a £21m deal from Arsenal on transfer deadline day.
Giroud made his first Premier League start for the west London side on Monday night for the visit of 20th-placed West Brom.
The 31-year-old striker provided a deft assist to tee up Hazard to break the deadlock in the first half at Stamford Bridge.
Hazard wrapped up three points in the 71st minute after Victor Moses had doubled the home side’s lead.
Chelsea FC have struggled in the striker department this term due to Alvaro Morata’s fitness problems and Michy Batshuayi’s failure to convince Antonio Conte of his ability to contribute to the Blues.
Speaking to Sky Sports about the January signing after Chelsea FC’s 3-0 win, Hazard explained what Giroud will bring to the Blues team.
“He’s a great target man. Maybe one of the best in England,” Hazard said.
“So when we pass the ball we can go around him. And not just me – Pedro, Willian [too]. He’s a good point of reference.
“We have a lot – we have him, we have Alvaro Morata. It’s not just about him but he’s a good target man and a good striker.”
Chelsea FC are in fourth place in the Premier League table and three points behind Manchester United ahead of their trip to Old Trafford on Sunday 25 February.
The Blues won the Premier League title in two of the past three seasons under Jose Mourinho and then Conte.
