Conte: ‘This is what I think of Chelsea’s 4-0 win over Hull, could start Willian vs. Barca’

Last season’s beaten finalists Chelsea progressed to the last eight of the FA Cup for the 12th time in 17 seasons with a comprehensive win over Nigel Adkins’ Championship strugglers.

Willian opened the scoring on two minutes, and Pedro doubled Chelsea’s lead on 27 minutes from Cesc Fabregas’ superb pass from the halfway line.

Willian netted his second of the night on 32 minutes, before Olivier Giroud opened his Chelsea account three minutes before half-time from debutant Emerson Palmieri’s cross.

Chelsea goalkeeper Willy Caballero then made a brilliant stop to beat out David Meyler’s second-half penalty, and deny Hull a consolation.

Conte says his players will go into Tuesday’s Champions League Round of 16 first leg against Barcelona at Stamford Bridge, which is live on BT Sport 2 on the eir Sport pack [kick off 7.45pm], high in confidence following Friday’s emphatic victory.

“Good game, good performance, it was great for us,” the Italian told BT Sport 2.

“The most important thing is that we are in the next round. Now we have to prepare for the game against Barcelona.

“You hope to always have a game that you can dominate. Our start was impressive. We started with great focus and concentration, will to score and wanted to go to the next round. I’m really pleased with the commitment of my players.

“It was a positive night for us because we had the opportunity to rest some important players. At the same time, I saw players in good form. I have different options. Now we have three days to make the best decision for the game against Barcelona.

“We lost two games at the end of a busy period. Now we have the right confidence again. But in the next two weeks we have to play massive games and we must be strong – Barcelona, United and City. We are ready.”
