BOURNEMOUTH defender Nathan Ake has explained why he celebrated after scoring against former club Chelsea last night.
The Dutchman made his first appearance at Stamford Bridge since signing permanently for the Cherries last summer.
Ake spent the first half of last season on loan at the Vitality Stadium before being recalled and his impressive performances convinced Eddie Howe to splash out £20m on him.
The 22-year-old scored Bournemouth third goal in a shock 3-0 win against the reigning Premier League champions last night and he ran over to the travelling support in celebration.
His actions led to abuse from Chelsea fans, who suggested his response was disrespectful to the club that nurtured him.
And Ake took to Instagram in response to the criticism.
“What a game,” he said.
“Three goals, clean sheet. Keep it going. Just to clear up, the celebration was nothing against Chelsea, just happy to score for Bournemouth.”
Bournemouth’s second win in three games propelled them into the top half of the Premier League.
They’ll be hoping to continue their impressive form on Saturday as they host struggling Stoke.
