Antonio Conte has revealed that Chelsea FC will have to assess the severity of Andreas Christensen’s hamstring injury after he was forced off against Bournemouth on Wednesday night.
The Danish defender lasted just 28 minutes of the game at Stamford Bridge before pulling up with a suspected hamstring strain.
The severity of the problem is not yet known but his absence will come as a blow to the Blues because he has been in such solid form so far this season.
Conte was quizzed about Christensen’s injury after the game but the Chelsea FC boss revealed that the Blues are still waiting to discover the extent of the problem.
Speaking at his post-match news conference, Conte said: “I think it’s a hamstring problem for Christensen but I don’t know the severity.
“We have to wait one or two days for him to have a clinical exam.”
Conte will look to rally his troops after their disappointing 3-0 loss to Bournemouth on Wednesday night as they bid to bounce back to winning ways in the Premier League when they travel to Watford on Monday night.
The Blues have slipped down into fourth place in the Premier League table and are now just two points ahead of fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur after 25 games.
Chelsea FC will take on FC Barcelona in the last 16 of the Champions League later this month.
