Chelsea’s period of bad form continued on Wednesday night in the Carabao Cup, after they were defeated 2-1 in the semi-final by Arsenal at the Emirates.
After victory against Brighton and Hove at the weekend, supporters were hoping that the Blues had turned a corner after a series of disappointing results but it was the Gunners who emerged victorious from the tie, heading into a final against Manchester City.
There were few positives for away fans from the 90 minutes but they did have praise for one star in particular despite the defeat.
Midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko, who was signed for a reported £40m last summer, has faced criticism this season for perceived poor performances but recently appears to be settling in better to first team action.
Supporters enjoyed his performance against Arsenal on Wednesday night and are hoping it can continue going forward given the expense of bringing him to the club from Monaco.
They took to Twitter to share their thoughts…

On the plus side, Bakayoko finally had a brilliant game in the centre of midfield. He was strong, quick, powerful going forward, good in the air. Hopefully it continues. #CFC

Bakayoko I thought was excellent, I’ve been his biggest critic, as for Barkley let’s give him a chance he has not played competitive football since last season so be patient. We do need more quality but let’s make Feb 25th a day to remember and stuff Jose and united. COYB’S #cfc
