ROMA full-back Emerson Palmieri is set to undergo a medical at Chelsea ahead of his £24m move.
Chelsea have been pursuing Palmieri to provide cover for left wing-back Marcos Alonso, having failed to bring anyone in during the summer.
And according to Italian outlet Gianluca Di Marzio, the Brazilian will become the Blues next signing.
Palmieri is reportedly set to arrive at the Chelsea’s Cobham training ground to undergo a medical today.
The reigning Premier League champions are said to have agreed an £18m deal with the Serie A giants, with £4m in add-ons.
Chelsea were also in talks with Roma over a deal for striker Edin Dzeko, but Gianluca Di Marzio claim that is now over.
Blues boss Antonio Conte is desperate to bring in a new striker this month but Dzeko will continue at the Stadio Olympico.
It was expected that Chelsea would offload back-up forward Michy Batshuayi if a new striker arrived, but Conte insists he wants three forwards at his disposal.
“If you see our squad we don’t have three, four, five strikers, we have two – [Alvaro] Morata and [Michy] Batshuayi,” he said.
“We have a lot of competitions – three strikers is the minimum.
“Then it is for club has to make the best decision if the club wants to add players or continue with only two strikers.”
