Alexis Sanchez transfer joke
08:40: Chelsea target Alexis Sanchez has snubbed Manchester United to join… non-league AFC Totton.
At least that’s what the English eighth-tier side have joked on their official Twitter account.
“SIGNING: It’s true, we’ve signed Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal, fending off interest from Manchester United!” they quipped, alongside a photoshopped graphic of the Chilean in a Totton shirt.
Sanchez, in reality, looks set to join United with Old Trafford misfit Henrikh Mkhitaryan going the other way.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang fury
07:50: Chelsea supporters are furious about the Blues’ decision not to pursue Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
“Arsenal set to sign Aubameyang… Meanwhile we’re in for Andy Carroll… the lack of ambition from our board is a farce… but we’re used to it by now aren’t we,” wrote one on Twitter.
“Is the club seriously going to watch Aubameyang go to Arsenal as if we don’t need another striker?” said another.
“We already have a striker who only knows how to score with his head,” added a third. “Why Carroll again ffs when Aubameyang is there for the taking?”
Eden Hazard claim
07:00: Eden Hazard was feeling the effects of Chelsea’s busy fixture schedule when the Blues played Leicester last weekend.
At least that’s what Blues legend Gianfranco Zola claimed while appearing as a pundit on last night’s FA Cup coverage.
“Some of the players for example Eden Hazard was very low in stamina,” he said.
“You could see that he was trying to do things but it was one of those moments where nothing was coming alive for him.
“It means that obviously he was low in physicality.”
Alexis Sanchez humiliation
06:10: Manchester United chief Ed Woodward believes the Red Devils have humiliated Chelsea by beating them to Alexis Sanchez.
That’s according to the Manchester Evening News, who say Woodward reckons United have got one over on Manchester City too.
Sanchez looks bound for Old Trafford despite claims Chelsea would make a late bid to keep the Arsenal contract rebel in London.
Woodward apparently believes United have put Chelsea, as well as local rivals City, to shame by edging towards a deal.
