Chelsea are set to announce the signing of Roma full-back Emerson Palmieri, according to reports in Italy.
The Blues have been in talks with Roma over the past several weeks as Antonio Conte looks to provide competition for Marco Alonso at left-back.
According to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, Chelsea have now reached an agreement with Roma.
The 23-year-old could now be unveiled as Chelsea’s new player soon as today after Roma accepted an £18m offer with around £4m in add-ons.
Arsenal bringing in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund could see Olivier Giroud sold to Chelsea for £35m.
Giroud has played second fiddle to his compatriot Alexandre Lacazette throughout this season.
The striker is thought to be open to a move in order to rekindle his chances of earning a France World Cup squad place.
But the 31-year-old does not want to leave London, so a transfer to Chelsea could suit all parties.
And according to the Daily Mail, Giroud would head to Stamford Bridge if the Blues meet the Gunners’ £35m valuation of the Frenchman.
Chelsea boss Conte insists he wants three centre-forwards at Stamford Bridge, instead of just Michy Batshuayi and Alvaro Morata.
“If you see our squad we don’t have three, four, five strikers, we have two – Morata and Batshuayi,” he said.
“We have a lot of competitions – three strikers is the minimum.
“Then it is for club has to make the best decision if the club wants to add players or continue with only two strikers.”
