CHELSEA have agreed personal terms on a deal to sign Edin Dzeko, transfer guru Tancredi Palmeri has claimed.
Italian journalist Palmeri is no stranger to making big transfer claims and his latest one is to suggest a big development in the Blues’ transfer chase.
He tweeted: “Wow, Chelsea’s offer for Dzeko has been accepted by the player!”
Chelsea are on the hunt for a target man with their move for Andy Carroll falling through after the West Ham striker got injured.
Dzeko, 31, scored twice against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League in October and has 12 to his name this season.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is frustrated with his strikers’ lack of killer instinct in front of goal.
That mounted yesterday when he told Alvaro Morata to get over his “stupid problem” as he grows increasingly frustrated.
Morata has not scored since Boxing Day and his frustrations boiled over against Norwich on Wednesday when he was sent off for dissent after being booked for diving. It means he misses the trip to Brighton today, leaving the Chelsea boss scratching around for attacking options, with Pedro also suspended.
Conte accepts Morata is struggling under the pressure of leading the Chelsea attack having usually started on the bench at Real Madrid.
Nevertheless, in all his time in Spain he never went longer than his current run of six games without scoring. Conte has backed his £58million man Morata throughout his difficult debut season in the Premier League. But he is beginning to lose patience.
“For strikers, this situation can happen,” he said. “For Alvaro, this is the first season that he has been having a full season. Maybe this is the first time to face this type of problems.
“But he has to overcome this problem because this is a stupid problem. You have to work for the team and not lose confidence. The coach trusts him, the teammates trust him, the club trust him, the fans trust him. I don’t see a problem.
“Before, if you stay on the bench, you don’t have this type of pressure. So now he has to learn to face this type of situation, move forward and go on.”
