Antonio Conte has insisted that Eden Hazard is “very happy” at Chelsea FC as he played down speculation about the Belgian’s long-term future.
The Belgian playmaker is widely regarded as one of the finest attacking players in the Premier League and has become Chelsea’s main man in recent years.
The 27-year-old signed for the Blues from French side Lille back in 2012 and has been a regular fixture in the first team, winning the Premier League title twice so far with the west London side.
Hazard has long been touted as a potential target for Real Madrid as the Spanish club continue to consider bolstering their squad.
However, Chelsea boss Conte has moved to play down that speculation by insisting that Hazard himself is very happy at Stamford Bridge for the long-term.
Speaking at a news conference at Cobham on Tuesday afternoon, Conte said: “I can speak about my player and, as you know very well, Eden is an important player for us.
“Eden is very happy to stay here, to work for this club.
“And we want to try to give satisfaction to our fans. I’m sure about this. For sure, Eden is an important player for us.”
Chelsea are now preparing for their Premier League clash against Leicester City as they bid to try and climb the table and get as close to Manchester City as possible.
The Blues won the title in style in Conte’s first campaign in charge last season but they did not have the distraction of European football last term.
