Michael Owen states his prediction for Chelsea vs Bournemouth

Michael Owen is backing Chelsea to ease to a comfortable win over Bournemouth in the League Cup quarter-finals at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

The defending Premier League champions are facing a difficult task overhauling runaway leaders Manchester City in the title race.

Chelsea are 14 points adrift of Pep Guardiola’s record-breaking side to leave the Blues challenging for a top-four spot rather than silverware in the English top flight.

The Blues boss will presumably concentrate on the cup competitions to add to his silverware tally following their Premier League title success last term.

Chelsea will host Eddie Howe’s struggling Bournemouth side in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

Former Liverpool striker Owen is backing the west London side to ease to a comfortable win against Bournemouth to secure the place in the semi-finals.

“As well as Liverpool played against Bournemouth on Sunday, I was disappointed with the hosts and will be surprised if the Cherries upset the odds at Stamford Bridge,” Owen told BetVictor.

“Chelsea have won their last five in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge and I think the Blues will ease their way into the last four.”

Chelsea will take on La Liga giants Barcelona in the Champions League last 16 as Conte looks to win Europe’s premier club competition for the first time.

The Blues lost 2-1 to London rivals Arsenal in the FA Cup final at Wembley last season to miss out on a double in Conte’s first season at Stamford Bridge.
