Chelsea will return with an offer to try and sign Ross Barkley from Everton in the January transfer window, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Telegraph is reporting that the west London side will look to try and make a fresh move to sign Barkley in the new year after having come close to landing him in the summer.
Chelsea were thought to be close to tying up a deal to land the 24-year-old England international in the summer, only for a deal not to materialise as the Blues signed Danny Drinkwater on deadline day in August.
Now, though, Chelsea are reported to be ready to ramp up their interest in bringing Barkley to Stamford Bridge.
The same report says Chelsea are willing to pay to sign Barkley in January, even though he may be available on a free transfer in the summer when his Everton contract expires.
It is also claimed that Tottenham are interested in signing the Everton man, but it’s Chelsea who are believed to be the front-runners for his signature.
Meanwhile, Chelsea will return to Premier League action on Wednesday night when they travel to The Emirates to take on local rivals Arsenal.
