Marcos Alonso risked upsetting his Chelsea team-mate Cesc Fabregas by not inviting him to his birthday celebrations.
The full back was busy celebrating turning 27 when Fabregas was quick to ask his friend for an invitation.
Alonso will have to think up an excuse quickly before their match against Stoke on Saturday.
The Blues defender posted a picture on Twitter of his lavish birthday cake with a message for his fans.
He wrote: ‘Thanks everyone for the bday wishes!’
Alonso appeared to be enjoying his celebrations, so much so that his fellow Spaniard could not resist poking fun at the defender.
Seemingly put out by his lack of invitation, Fabregas quickly responded in Spanish, writing on Twitter: ‘Thanks for the invitation’.
The tongue in cheek comment shows the team spirit which has seen Chelsea put together an impressive run in the Premier League.
They are unbeaten in their last four games, a record which has seen them climb just one point behind second placed Manchester United.
However, any chance of retaining their Premier League crown seem a distant dream with Manchester City storming 16 points clear of the current champions.
