CHELSEA news is coming thick and fast with the Blues currently winding down after their 2-0 win over Brighton yesterday. We bring you all the latest from Stamford Bridge.
CHELSEA NEWS LIVE UPDATES: LATEST ON ARTURO VIDAL, VIRGIL VAN DIJK AND MORE FROM STAMFORD BRIDGE
Wednesday December 27:
Van Dijk transfer update
07:45: Southampton ace Virgil van Dijk is wanted by both Liverpool and Chelsea.
But Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson thinks he should snub a move to Anfield and join Antonio Conte’s side instead.
“If you were Van Dijk you would go Chelsea over anywhere,” Merson said.
“Chelsea play three at the back so you’re always going to play and he suits that perfect to play in the middle of a three. He can play as well the lad, he can come out and can play.
“I don’t know (about Man City), (Nicholas) Otamendi I think has done outstanding this first six months, I think he has improved immensely.
“Stones has got to come back, if Kompany’s fit he’s going to play, I don’t know how long he will go on for but if he’s fit you’re going to play him.
“Van Dijk will want to go somewhere where he’s going to play every week. If he goes to Liverpool every week.”
Conte discusses Vidal
07:25: Antonio Conte has fuelled talk of a move for Bayern Munich star Arturo Vidal.
The Chelsea boss coached the Chile international while at Juventus.
And, with Vidal supposedly unhappy in Bavaria, Conte has flirted with the idea of a potential move.
“I must be honest, it’s not right to talk about a player of another team,” he said.
“Especially if you try to link this player with us.
“Arturo is a fantastic player. I have great respect for Arturo, and we spent many years in Juventus together.
“I’d always want him with me.”
Loftus-Cheek to Liverpool claim
07:05: Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been tipped to join Liverpool by former Reds star Steve Walsh.
The England international is currently spending the season on loan at Crystal Palace.
And, though a bright Chelsea future lies ahead, Walsh can see him moving to Anfield.
“You mentioned Loftus-Cheek, I think he’d improve Liverpool in that central midfield area,” Walsh said on Sky Sports.
